HOA FAQ's
What does it mean to be a homeowner in the association?
Any owner of a home in Compass Pointe is a member of the HOA and shares common space like the pool and playground, entrance area and 30' of the land between a home and the outer perimeter of the development. All homeowners have a voice in how we use them and maintain them. This includes agreement on the obligation of all homeowners to maintain their own property according to certain standards.
What are the rights of homeowners?
The HOA belongs to the homeowners who elect other homeowners to represent them on the board of directors who are accountable to the homeowners. Changes to the Covenants, Bylaws and Architectural guidelines fall under the voting power of homeowners. Most changes require a 2/3 majority vote to be effected. They also have the right to petition to call a vote for board member removal or changes to the governing documents.
What does the board of directors do?
The board of directors is chosen from a slate of homeowners by a vote of the entire homeowner community each year. Those on the board are responsible to see that all adhere to the standards for the community as outlined in the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions. Additionally the board represents homeowners in all financial, legal and governmental requirements for an HOA community.
What is Architectural Control ?
This is a set of guidelines for adherence to the type of homes and structures allowed in Compass Pointe and the expectations for maintaining property standards. The ACC committee of homeowners has the responsibility for managing this task.
